Meet Taylor of Making Folk!

Making an intentional and thoughtful home, creating together, and treasure hunting for secondhand finds.
Welcome to Making Folk, a place where I hope to share my journey of slowing down and creating a beautiful home. Through nourishing recipes, creating intentionally with my kids, and filling my home with special secondhand finds that bring a touch of whimsy.
My husband, Tyler and I live in a downtown 500 square feet apartment with two children. It’s an adventure but we love the simple life we live and hope to one day own a home too. We’ve been married five years and first met working in a coffee shop together and became fast friends.

About Me
I was born in Anchorage, Alaska but only lived there a few years before my family moved. I always say I’m from Missouri because that’s where I lived the longest and it holds most of my childhood memories.
I grew up in a lake house in the woods and it was a magical place; I loved exploring everyday and still gravitate towards nature and whimsy.
I love food; how it nourishes our bodies and brings people together. I almost always have something cooking, baking, or proving in my kitchen. Even in our small space, the kitchen is the most used area of our home. We love sharing a table with people and truly believe it is a place of healing and belonging.
I consider myself a “holistic” person in that I try to consider the “whole” when approaching things. Whether it is in relation to our bodies or relationship.
I love to create but honestly am still encouraging myself to do it each day and not overthink it.
I adore thrifting, antiquing, and going to estate sales. I’ve always been intrigued by older things and love to hunt for the perfect piece for myself or someone else. I even own a vintage shop with my sister, Annie and Germaine on Instagram.
Fun facts about me:
- I lived in Doha, Qatar for five years as a child
- I am one of six kids, one boy and five girls
- I love to read, especially classics such as Little Women, and historical fiction
- I have been writing since before I could actually write sentences, stories and eventually journal
Thanks for being here and joining us in pursuing a slow, thoughtful, and whimsical life through the everyday. We are so glad you are here!
